Grateful Dead - 1977-05-08 Barton Hall Cornell University Ithaca, NY
This is straight up one of my favorite Dead shows. This is a newly Remastered 3 source SBD/AUD Matrix.
One of the best for sure, and, one of my first sdb's of the dead. i have played this for so many older dead heads over the years, one of them actually was there, and it brought tears to his eyes. great recording, tight playing, and an awesome crowd make this one of the all time greats for sure. nice pick to share jooge.
Way cool show, one of my all-time favs. How can anyone say one is better than another? I've read a number of scholarly books and papers and even a thesis proclaiming Barton Hall May 8, 1977 to be the best GD show ever. There are however many best shows, each featuring great musicianship and tracklist, some with very unique or rare selections. I listen with an open mind and count Barton Hall 77 one among the very best. Recording quality is a separate condition. There are numerous AUDs of the Barton Hall show, some really quite good. Apart from the Get Shown the Light set, the best I've heard is the matrix by Hunter Seamons in 2009-2010, based on Betty Cantor SBD (shnid=4982) and Jeff Stevenson AUD (shnid=29303). I'll give this one a spin, the back cover art is intriguing, if indeed the (naughty) bootleg 'Dead in Cornell'. And a belated Happy 420 day to all!
nice, this was my very first B&P trade back in the rec.music.phish days! Thanks again for hooking us up all the time
ReplyDeleteWow awesome sauce buddy thank you
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jooge ... but fix the title: 77, not 78. Generally considered best show of all time by the GD taper (and listener) communities.
ReplyDeleteWhoops my bad. Fixed.
DeleteThanks for this upgrade to what is certainly one of the top two or three Dead shows.
